SAN Beda coach Boyet Fernandez stressed he never lost sight of the task at hand despite his impending move to NLEX in the PBA.
Although eager to get the NCAA season over with, the multi-titled mentor is focused on leading the Red Lions first to a fifth straight title, eighth in the last nine years, and a record 19th crown in the country’s oldest collegiate league.
The defending champions start their ambitious bid in the Finals against Arellano later in the day at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“Ang daming pressure,” Fernandez admitted in a chat with Spin.ph after Lions practice at the MOA Arena. “But we have to finish this one with a flourish.”
“Whatever lies in the future is up to the future,” he added. “All I have to do is to focus on San Beda and win the championship.”
No announcement has been made, but national youth coach Jamike Jarin is set to take over from Fernandez when the latter handles the Road Warriors.
“But as long as I’m here, I’ll continue to prepare San Beda,” Fernandez said.
