JOSE Rizal University high school star Jeric Adorio has decided to stay with the Heavy Bombers in college after being part of the NCAA Mythical team last season.
Adorio, who played in Iloilo before moving to JRU, averaged 16.4 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks for the Light Bombers in Season 89 despite standing just a shade below 6-foot-1.
He won the Mythical Five award last season and was in the company of junior standouts Prince Rivero and Kobe Paras of La Salle Greenhills, and the San Sebastian duo of Michael Calisaan and Rhanzelle Yong.
JRU coach Vergel Meneses confirmed Adorio has committed to stay with the school and will be part of the lineup for the coming season.
He, however, is practicing with the school’s Team B and is not playing for the Heavy Bombers in the ongoing Filoil preseason tilt.
“Hindi muna na-lineup. Wala pa siyang one month na nag-pa-practice sa team,” Meneses said.
The JRU mentor added Adorio is definitely a big addition for a Heavy Bombers side that is looking to break into the Final Four this year.
“’Yung energy niya ang mabibigay niya sa amin. Sinama ko siya sa Cebu (during a pocket tournament) and he played well coming off the bench,” said Meneses.
