Red Lions keep fingers crossed as star guard Baser Amer hurts shoulder again

    Jul 16, 2015

BASER Amer suffered yet another shoulder injury on Thursday in San Beda’s stunning loss to Letran in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament.

The national team player was seen favoring his right shoulder after figuring in a collision during the second quarter of the Red Lions’ 90-93 loss to the Knights.

It was initially suspected Amer may have aggravated the same injury he suffered during the offseason as the San Beda point guard was immediately treated at the team dugout.

He eventually left the venue as San Beda staff said there’s still no clear findings on Amer’s injury.

The point guard also injured his right shoulder during his stint in the PBA D-League, and was originally thought to be out for two to three weeks for the Red Lions in their NCAA campaign.

But after missing the team’s opening game against Mapua, he returned earlier than expected as the senior playmaker made his debut against Emilio Aguinaldo College last July 2.

With Amer out, Letran was quick to take advantage on the way to clinching its third straight win.

It was the first loss in the tournament for the reigning, five-time champions, who fell to a 2-1 slate.
