JIOVANI Jalalon posted yet another triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 17 assists as Arellano defeated San Sebastian, 86-76, on Friday in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
It was the third time Jalalon did the special feat this season, including a season-high in assists to tie the mark registered by Scottie Thompson of Perpetual Help.
Jalalon’s latest heroics carried the Chiefs to their fourth straight win to regain solo third place with a 10-4 (win-loss) slate.
Donald Gumaru had 17 points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals for Arellano, which still needed a strong fourth quarter to stop San Sebastian and gain a half-game lead over the Altas (9-4).
“This is the last game for us before going up against the Big 3 - Mapua, Letran and San Beda. That’s another level. Kailangan talaga naming i-clear ‘tong San Sebastian,” said Arellano coach Jerry Codinera.
“It was a tough game. Ang hirap i-close,” he added.
Dioncee Holts had 11 points and nine rebounds, while Allan Enriquez added 10 for the Chiefs.
Bradwyn Guinto had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Stags, who fell to a 3-10 win-loss slate.
