NATIONAL University coasted to win No. 85 with a 105-53 rout of University of the Philippines on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 82 women's basketball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.
Jack Animam led the Lady Bulldogs' attack with 16 points and 12 rebounds as coach Pat Aquino gave ample playing time to his shock troopers.
"I told them earlier that those people that are having less playing time have to show up. It's in preparation for something better for the next few games," he said. "They need to have that feeling that they know how to win and play the game will make us more prepared for the grind of the season."
Melody Cac answered the call as she fired 13 points on a 2-of-6 shooting from deep, to go with three boards.
Fil-Canadian rookie Camille Clarin had 11 points and two rebounds, Congolese center Rhena Itesi had 11 points and nine boards, while Kaye Pingol scored 10.
NU stayed unscathed this season at 5-0, while UP remained winless at 0-4.
Rei Sanchez led the hard-luck Lady Maroons with 21 points and five rebounds, while Pesky Pesquera added 15 points and nine boards as UP suffered its 34th straight defeat.
