JACK Animam couldn't help but feel emotional over the crowd that came out to support National University as it set the longest winning streak in UAAP history at 74.

"Syempre, masarap sa feeling," she said, appreciative of the fans that turned up to witness the Lady Bulldogs' 96-57 triumph over UST in the UAAP Season 81 women's basketball tournament on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

"We're just happy na nakita namin sila at sinuportahan nila kami today and sana sa mga susunod pang games."

Animam, who was solid with 15 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block in the record-setting win, hopes that NU's record-setting run will draw more attention to the women's game.

"Sana unti-unti, mas dumami pa yan. Masarap sa pakiramdam kasi hindi lang kami para sa sarili naglalaro kundi we play for our communities lalo na sa NU community," she said.

Aside from live gate attendance, Animam hopes the women's tournament will soon be shown on television.

Even just the highlights, she added.

"I'm wishing and hoping na hindi man nila i-televise yung games ng women's, sana yung weekly highlights man lang. Kasi nanonood naman sila ng men's, so siguro why not before mag-start ang games ng men's, ipakita nila ang highlights ng nangyari sa women's.

"Kahit man lang doon sa highlights na yan, ma-enlighten ang mga tao na may women's basketball pala," she added. "Sa collegiate pa nga lang, wala nang nanonood. What more pa sa national team, di ba? So siguro konting exposure pa."

If that happens, Animam is sure fans will realize the women's game is just as competitive and as entertaining as the men's.

"Doon nila makikita na oo, babae ito pero kung gumalaw sila parang lalaki. Kung tutuusin nga mas exciting panoorin ang game ng babae kaysa sa lalaki kasi bigayan lang naman sila. Dito sa women's basketball, more on physicality," she said.

"Siguro sa ganoon man lang, ma-appreciate kami ng tao and then siguro unti-unti, doon lalaki ang suporta sa women's basketball."
