Coach Jamike Jarin says Bedans wish only the best for La Salle recruit Andrei Caracut

    Apr 27, 2015

SAN Beda coach Jamike Jarin was both pleased and wary upon seeing Andrei Caracut shoot the lights out in the opener of a preseason tournament.

Jarin was pleased former star Red Cub Caracut was doing really well in a college tournament. Unfortunately for the Red Lions, Caracut was playing for the other squad — defendng Filoil Cup titleholder La Salle.

“My pep talk during halftime was, ‘San Beda is winning right now.’ And they (players) all agreed,” said Jarin. “But I also said, ‘San Beda is also beating us.’”

Jarin was referring to how the former San Beda Red Cub went perfect from the three-point range on Saturday when he connected on all five triples the first two quarters and the Green Archers, instead of being blown out, stood close at the half, 62-54.

The Red Lions still managed to come out as winners against La Salle despite Caracut’s shooting display — 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the three-point range. San Beda needed overtime before coming out with an 86-80 victory.

Caracut later admitted after the game he came out prepared for the San Beda match since he wants to do well against his former team.

Jarin noted despite Caracut’s move to La Salle, they still consider him a Bedan.

“Of course, he is with La Salle right now. But he is still a Bedan for us. And we wish him all the best. That’s how we do things here with San Beda,” said Jarin.
