ANDOY Estrella fueled a late rally, powering Mapua past Lyceum, 90-75, on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 92 basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Estrella scored all his 12 points in a 17-2 run for the Cardinals, who regained their winning ways as they climbed to a 7-4 win-loss record.
Allwell Oraeme had 27 points, 25 rebounds and four blocks, CJ Isit scored 19 and Laurenz Victoria added 15 points.
But it was the 23-year-old Estrella who starred for the Cardinals late in the game.
Estrella hit a triple that gave Mapua a double-digit lead, 78-68, with 3:1 left in the fourth and scored another lay-up with 57 seconds to play for a 16-point cushion, 86-70.
“Basta naglaro lang ako. Kung ano ’yung pinapagawa ng mga coaches, naka-tsamba uli,” said Estrella.
Wilson Baltazar chipped in 17 points for the Pirates, who fell to 5-6.
