Xyrus Torres skips last playing year for FEU Tamaraws to turn pro

NINE years as a Far Eastern University juniors and seniors division standout have come to an end for Xyrus Torres.

With one more year of UAAP eligibility left, Torres has decided to call it a career as he enters the world of pro basketball.

"I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the entire FEU community for the unwavering support throughout my athletic career. It is your continuous support that has fueled my drive and inspired me to push my limits both on and off the field," Torres said.

"In a span of nine years, I was able to visit six different countries representing not only the school, but also our country and I owe this all to FEU," he added.

Torres, who was also a former Gilas Youth ace, went on to thank his fellow Tamaraws and coaches for nearly a decade of "guidance, support, and mentorship."

"To my teammates, thank you for not only being my fellow athletes but my second family. The countless hours spent in training, bonding, and competing together have shaped friendships that will last a lifetime."

Torres added: "To my coaches during my junior and senior years, thank you for your guidance, support, and mentorship. Your commitment to developing both my skills as a player and my character as an individual has had a profound impact on my life."

    The six-footer Pampanga native had the second-highest average gametime for the Tamaraws in Season 86 at 26:02 minutes per game (364:33 total).

    Torres was also the third-most statistically efficient FEU player with 9.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, while ranking sixth in the league in total three-pointers made (27 threes; 1.93 per game).

    His first post-collegiate basketball stint came quite early in 2024 upon joining TNT Triple Giga alongside Matt Salem, Samboy de Leon, and Rey Telen in the Jumpshot 3x3 International Tournament in Singapore.
