Do you believe in the saying: “No sex before sports?” Science may have debunked it as a myth, but a lot of old heads still believe in abstinence before game day.
In the case of the UP Fighting Maroon’s Noah Webb, he thinks that engaging in sexual activity prior does affect athletic performance—but you’ll never know how unless you try it. That’s because to go with his physical prowess, the forward also keeps his mental edge by being open-minded, hence his liberal view on sex before sports.
It’s literally a championship-winning mindset though, so we figure the veteran baller has a lot of secrets to attaining top wins both in bed and in game.
Forget expectations and stay locked in
Instead of comparing what happened with what he wanted to happen, Webb believes that you should forget your expectation at tip-off. Or when the clothes come off.
He said, "I remind myself to be present and attentive, to be able to make use of opportunities that present themselves in the moment, knowing that if I win the little battles in competition, the final score will take care of itself.
"I believe this attitude translates directly into any time spent with someone special. Trying to be in the moment so that I can be intentional and attentive to the needs and wants of my partner."

Improve bit by bit rather than attempting to transform overnight
Webb states that attention to detail is key. You need to be sure any changes actually have a positive effect on your body and performance, especially when it's "game time" with a partner!
"Incremental improvements vs 'one time big time' improvements are essential to an athlete's health, as this helps ensure sustainability in an athlete's body," he explained. "The same can be said when dealing with your partner. You don't want to be moving too fast, without making sure that your partner is comfortable with everything that is happening."
Don't deny yourself just because it's locker room tradition
Webb believes there is rarely a "one size fits all" truth for most situations. For example, he believes the classic smoke or a drink before a game probably doesn't help a player's performance but there's nuance involved: "Some athletes may feel like they need a cigarette before a game. Athletes are some of the most superstitious people I know!"
With that in mind, Webb's take on frisky pre-game activities is that "it seems like the athletes that do abstain may believe and feel like they're conserving energy that can be used in competition, while on the other end of the spectrum the athletes that don't, believe that engaging in sexual activity before competition calms them."
