BLACK is the new maroon for the University of the Philippines, as the team unveiled its latest dark uniforms on Sunday during its highly anticipated rematch against La Salle at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The debut of the new look comes on the heels of a deeply personal loss for one-and-done star Quentin Millora-Brown, whose grandfather passed away last week.

According to the team, however, the changing of colors had long been in the pipeline to bring a breath of fresh air to State U's look. As such, it just so coincided with QMB's personal loss.
Millora-Brown is currently on leave, returning to the US to attend the burial and in doing so, missed the match-up with the Green Archers.
From warmers to shirts and jerseys, the Fighting Maroons turned all-black for the weekend game.

The coaching staff, though, kept its maroon uniforms.
QMB previously shared in interviews that it was his lolo Angel who inspired his decision to play in the Philippines and choose State U.
