THE controversy surrounding the University of Santo Tomas men's varsity team took a strange turn on Wednesday when contents of a group chat shared online by former Tiger CJ Cansino revealed the grumblings of the players during their bubble training in Sorsogon, including but not solely about their meals.
Suddenly, a full-blown food fight erupted.
To dispel the players' complaints about their meals in Sorsogon, fan pages shared photos of the team enjoying hearty meals during their time there - from a seafood boodle feast to a Korean barbeque dinner.
Not to be easily silenced, one source who SPIN.ph spoke to said the seafood treat was just a one-time thing while the photo-op with the Korean meal was 'contrived.'
Amid the mixed reactions, one PBA star and a former pro player felt the UST players' food complaint left a bad taste in the mouth.
Alaska forward Vic Manuel, who rose from obscurity to become one of the pro league's top players, found the complaints petty, telling the players, 'Maganda na nga suporta ng school n'yo nagrereklamo pa kaso sa pagkain."
Here's the post of the former PSBA player:

His opinion was shared by Leo Avenido, a former Far Eastern University standout who had a long pro career in the PBA, Asean Basketball League (ABL) and the MPBL.
The gist of his post: 'Aarte n'yo.'
