Veteran TV analyst Andy Jao gets nod as UAAP basketball commissioner

    May 30, 2014

ANDY Jao has been appointed basketball commissioner for Season 77 of the UAAP.

The veteran television analyst got the nod of the league on Friday, ending the long search of host University of the East on who will run the seniors’, women’s, and juniors’ competitions for this year.

Jao’s appointment came nearly a month before the start of the seniors basketball tournament on July 12, and after former Philippine Basketball League (PBL) commissioner Chino Trinidad declined UE’s offer to run the meet.

Jao, a former PBL commissioner like Trinidad, will be in his second stint as UAAP commissioner in three years' time after assuming the same role in 2011 when Ateneo served as league host.

Prior to the UAAP appointment, Jao was a consultant for Talk ‘N Text in the PBA, the same position he had with Rain or Shine a few years ago.
