Veejay Pre confirms FEU departure: 'Hardest decision ever'

AFTER months of speculation, Veejay Pre has made it offical.

He is leaving Far Eastern University.

In a heartfelt post published at Wednesday midnight, the UAAP Season 87 Rookie of the Year expressed his gratitude to his alma mater, ending months of speculation as to his status with the Tamaraws.

"I believe that leaving and saying ‘goodbye’ is never easy and accepting things is the most painful part," Pre said.

"As an athlete, growth and improvement matters deeply. But there comes a time in our lives when challenges arise, pushing us to make difficult decisions," the post continued.

"My family and I have come to a decision, and I’ve chosen to heed their wisdom and concerns. This made me realize how much they only want the best for me and I can’t deny that taking this big step forward has been the hardest decision ever."

After a stellar career with the Baby Tamaraws, Pre transitioned well to the seniors stage under first-year coach Sean Chambers, putting up averages of 13.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists en route to being named the UAAP Rookie of the Year.

While the Tamaraws missed the playoffs after finishing 5-9, there were plenty of optimism over at Morayta especially with Pre leading the core of their ex-Baby Tams like Janrey Pasaol and Jedric Daa.

But that optimism certainly took a big hit with Pre making his departure official.

Now all eyes will be on Pre's next move as he will certainly make any team an instant contender with his arrival.

At 6'5 with a versatile toolkit, and a growing frame at only age 19 - the now ex-Tamaraw will certainly turn teams into instant playoff contenders wherever he lands, owing to his 'KQ-esque' potential

But whether he follows in the footsteps of his idol in Kevin Quiambao in La Salle remains to be seen as people can only speculate as to where the 19-year-old will be headed at this point.
