UST's Steve Akomo, UP's Ibrahim Outtara set to get green light to play in UAAP Season 80

The UAAP board of trustees reportedly allowed Steve Akomo and Ibrahim Ouattara to play in Season 80 after initially ruled ineligible by the UAAP board of managing director.

STEVE Akomo of University of Santo Tomas and Ibrahim Ouattara of University of the Philippines have been allowed by the UAAP to play in Season 80, according to sources.

The decision was reached by the UAAP Board of Trustees, now composed of presidents of the eight member universities of the league.

Akomo and Ouattara were declared by the UAAP board of managing director as ineligible, saying they have yet to meet the two-year residency for foreign players, until the UAAP board of trustees reversed their decision.

An official statement is expected to be made within the day.

Although the UAAP has not released a statement as of posting time, UP coach Bo Perasol later thanked the league's board of trustees for the decision, which he said was for the best interest of the student-athlete
