A PLAYER of the University of Santo Tomas women’s basketball team accused of slapping two rivals from National University counterparts in their recent game in Season 77 of the UAAP has been spared from a sanction.

Commissioner Andy Jao said he saw no proof the UST player later identified as Love Nartates, slapping the two NU stalwarts during the traditional postgame handshake following their Saturday match.

Jao reached the decision after hearng the sides of the player along with head coach Chris Cantonjos on Wednesday.

Based on the complaint by NU, the player who slapped two Lady Bulldogs wore jersey No. 11, which, based on UST’s official lineup, is Nartates.

The UST-NU game also saw punching and elbowing incidents that led to suspensions for Kim Reyes and Bettina Buenaflor.

The two served their suspensions in Wednesday’s game against La Salle, which won, 69-63.
