UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas looks to ride on the momentum of a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the weekend when it takes on De La Salle on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Tigers, at 4-1 just half a game behind leader Far Eastern University, are looking to ride the momentum of a big win on Saturday when they came roaring back from 16 points down to beat Ateneo, 68-58, behind Kevin Ferrer's 27 points.

Santo Tomas coach Bong Dela Cruz said chemistry is a big reason for the team's early success.

“We are not a team. We are a family right now,” said Dela Cruz. “Maganda ‘yung bonding ng mga bata ngayon.”

Ferrer is also in no mood to relax.

“Gusto naming higitan kung ano ‘yung meron kami ngayon,” said Ferrer.

The Tigers, though, can expect rough sailing against the Green Archers, who have won two straight games following a 1-2 start. La Salle defeated University of the East, 71-64, on Sunday.

La Salle coach Juno Sauler is bracing for a war against the Tigers.

“UST is a strong team. They play very hard. Just like any other team in the UAAP, they keep on fighting. It’s going to be a very tough game on Wednesday,” said Sauler.

In the first game, Ateneo looks to bounce back from its loss to UST in a game against University of the Philippines at 2 p.m. The Blue Eagles are at 3-2 while the Maroons are on a three-game losing streak after a 2-0 start.
