UAAP Season 79 could include dancesport in the program as part of the changes under season host University of Santo Tomas.
“Remember this is the so-called season of change so we will have some changes,” said incoming UAAP president Fr. Ermito de Sagun.
Adding more sports to the program wil be discussed as the league holds a three-day planning workshop beginning on Monday.
“That’s one of the things that will be finalized in our discussion,” said De Sagun, referring to the possible inclusion of dancesports.
Season 78 host University of the Philippines turned over the UAAP flag to UST during Saturday night’s closing ceremonies where Ian Lariba of La Salle, Alyssa Valdez of Ateneo, Jessie Khing Lacuna of Ateneo, and Queeny Sabobo of Adamson were awarded co-Athletes of the Year.
De Sagun also declined to reveal the school’s plans for Season 79.
“Wala pa. Secret pa. We couldn’t make an announcement yet because it is not yet totally transferred (hosting to UST). Ceremonies lang naman (last Saturday) so it’s still under UP. Probably after that, we will announce something like opening dates. At the moment, tentative pa,” said De Sagun.
