University of Santo Tomas is expected to reclaim the UAAP general championship for Season 77 as per an unofficial tally obtained by Spin.ph.
The perennial champions edged out reigning titlist De La Salle, 285-279, in the unofficial tally to run away with the title -- their 40th overall in the league.
The Espana-based school had been beaten for the top honors by La Salle over the past two years.
The Tigers copped the overall crown by topping men’s taekwondo, men’s and women’s judo, women’s beach volleyball, and women’s athletics, while consistently landing in the top three of the other events
Computation for the overall title has a team getting 15 points for a first place award, 12 for second, and 10 for third.
Fourth to eighth gets eight, six, four, two, and one point respectively.
The Green Archers won three titles, nine second-place finishes, and four third-place honors to place runner up via a slim margin.
