Aug 16, 2014

A MEMBER of the University of Santo Tomas women’s basketball team is in hot water after she was accused of slapping two National University players at the end of their UAAP Season 77 game on Saturday.

According to a complaint filed by NU, a UST player wearing jersey No. 11 slapped Shelley Gupilan and Tin Abriam during the traditional post-game handshake after the Lady Bulldogs' 73-68 win over the Tigresses at the Blue Eagle Gym.

Witnesses also said someone from the UST side allegedly destroyed a CCTV camera at the Blue Eagle Gym.

The accused player has yet to be identified by NU officials at posting time since she has yet to play in the tournament, the complaint said.

UAAP commissioner Andy Jao said he has been informed about the incident, warning of possible sanctions pending a review of the video evidence.

Incidentally, UST women players also traded punches with a member of the Rizal Technological University during the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup last May. Three players were eventually thrown out for fighting.
