ANTIPOLO — It took time, but the threes eventually fell for University of Santo Tomas as it downed Far Eastern University, 82-74, on Sunday in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament at Ynares Center.

Missing all of their seven triples in the first quarter, the Growling Tigers' outside shots did find their mark, hitting their stride before finishing with a 10-of-36 shooting from threes.

Sherwin Concepcion had the biggest part in that barrage, drilling four triples to flip the game from a 36-24 second quarter deficit to a commanding 12-point lead in UST's favor, 67-55 early in the fourth period.

The rookie out of Mapua had his best outing to date with 12 points on a 4-of-8 clip from deep.

Soulemane Chabi Yo had a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds as UST improved to a 4-2 record.

Mark Nonoy also got 11 points and six rebounds, Renzo Subido added 11 points and five assists, and Rhenz Abando had 10 points and three rebounds for UST.

"They responded to my challenge that they have to show up," said coach Aldin Ayo as the Tigers bounced back from a tough 78-71 meltdown to Adamson last Wednesday.

"Good way to bounce back yung last namin na talo. Lahat ng mali namin sa last game we took them out, we tried to correct those mistakes. I’m just grateful na we were able to adjust."

FEU showed a lot of fight despite the sudden swing, trimming the lead down to just five, 75-70, in the last 58.7 seconds, but an unsportsmanlike foul on Barkley Ebona for pulling Subido's shoulders proved to be the deathknell for the Tamaraws, with the Growling Tigers putting the game away at the charity stripe.

L-Jay Gonzales topped the inconsistent FEU squad with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Xyrus Torres shot 4-of-8 from threes to notch 14 points for the Tamaraws, who dropped to 2-3.
