UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas looks to improve its semifinal bid when it battles Adamson on Saturday in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Sitting at 7-6, the Growling Tigers must win this game to at least secure a playoff for a Final Four spot.
Adamson leads with a 12-0 record followed by University of the Philippines at 8-4.
UST is hoping to make it to the semis for the first time since in 2015.
"Ganyan talaga yung UAAP ngayon eh," said Aldin Ayo after the Tigers’ 80-79 defeat to La Salle on Wednesday.
"Sinabi ko noon pa na it will be a very unpredictable season at ganoon talaga yung nangyari. Halos yung mga teams, pantay-pantay eh. So dedepende na lang sa mas gustong manalo."
Ayo hopes that it's his side as Soulemane Chabi Yo, Rhenz Abando, and CJ Cansino lead the Growling Tigers in the 4 p.m. game.
Lose, and UST will have no control of its fortunes, that's why the Espana crew are eager to redeem themselves from a 78-71 defeat to the Soaring Falcons on Sept. 18.
Adamson, meanwhile, just looks to make the most of the campaign and improve its 4-8 card, with coach Franz Pumaren missing the Final Four for the first time in San Marcelino and only for the second time in his career.
Ateneo looks to inch closer to an outright finals berth when it takes on also-ran National University at 2 p.m.
Thirdy Ravena and Ange Kouame lead the Blue Eagles in the duel when they try to silence the high-scoring outbursts of Dave Ildefonso for the lowly Bulldogs (2-10).
