COACH Boy Sablan said he was mostly satisfied with the way University of Santo Tomas played defense, and he doesn’t blame the Tigers as fatigue crept in while trying to keep up with the ruthless La Salle Green Archers.

“Malakas pa sila dumepensa pero nung second half, hindi na humahabol. Siguro may pagod na rin ’yung nangyari sa mga bata,” said Sablan.

Against a La Salle side that kept pushing, UST lost steam and wound up absorbing a 38-point defeat.

Sablan believes the tough game against University of the East four days before the La Salle match also was a factor, noting that both teams use pressure defense.

The Tigers nipped the Warriors, but Sablan felt they didn't have enough against the Archers.

“Siguro ’yung past two games na ginawa namin, napagod ’yung mga bata. Puro trap na magkasunod. Hindi ko masisisi yung mga bata. Darating at darating ’yung pagod.”

“Naging problema namin na halos magkasunod ’yung laro namin. Masyadong dikit. Siyempre, sasabihin nila na okay sila (hindi sila pagod). Hinid sila aamin,” said Sablan.

In the lopsided defeat over the Growling Tigers, Renzo Subido had 18 points but had nine of the Tigers’ 40 turnovers, while Jon Sheriff chipped in 11 points.
