PIDO Jarencio hasn't had the best of records against La Salle.
In his time for University of Santo Tomas, the outspoken mentor has gone 6-16 against the Taft side in his tenure in Espana.
And that's exactly why their 93-84 victory on Saturday had to feel really good for him.
"Kinakausap niya kami pabiro na, 'Give me a win naman today against La Salle.' And nangyari nga ngayon," shared lead guard Forthsky Padrigao after they went to 2-0 to open UAAP Season 88.
Jarencio's last taste of victory against the Green Archers was way back in Oct. 2, 2013 - Game One of the Season 76 men's basketball finals where Kevin Ferrer and Karim Abdul carried the Growling Tigers to a 73-72 escape.
Unfortunately, UST would lose the next two games and surrender the crown to La Salle.
Curiously, Juno Sauler, who was the head coach of the Green Archers back then, is now on the black-and-gold side as one of the team's deputies.

And the fact that this UST win also snapped a 16-game losing skid against their Taft counterparts is just the cherry on top, with their last being an 81-79 squeaker back in Oct. 11, 2015 in Season 78.

But co-captain Padrigao reminded the Growling Tigers that this win, as sweet as it feels, is just another game.
"It's good na we're 2-0, but we have not proven anything yet. So we're staying hungry for our next games cause may gusto kaming maabot at malayo pa kami doon," he said.
