THE fate of the University of Santo Tomas and coach Aldin Ayo hinges on the findings of an internal investigation which are set to be submitted to the UAAP on Friday.
Officials of all eight member-schools will meet on Friday afternoon to discuss what really happened in Capuy, Sorsogon where the Growling Tigers stand accused of violating health protocols during the pandemic by traning as a team as early as mid-June.
Copies of the report have been furnished to UST Rector Fr. Richard Ang, OP and new Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA) director Fr. Ermito de Sagon, OP ahead of the meeting with the rest of the league's Board of Trustees (BOT), SPIN.ph sources said.

The findings, however, aren't expected to be made public as the UAAP will also present the report to a Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF)-affiliated panel made up of representatives of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Department of Health (DOH), and the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), as well as the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), on Tuesday.
It's only then that penalties are expected to be slapped, although the UAAP and CHED expect UST to punish those deemed responsible.
Since the news of the Sorsogon sojourn came to light last week, UST has seen team captain CJ Cansino move to University of the Philippines and Fr. Jannel Abogado, OP step down from his post as the head of IPEA.
But investigators want more.
GAB chief Baham Mitra said the UAAP is the best body to hand out punishment if necessary. However, he bared UAAP officials led by executive director Rebo Saguisag are hesitant to act, explaining that UST plays in other leagues other than the UAAP.
On the other hand, CHED commissioner Prospero de Vera wants to hold into account any school official who approved the Tigers' training in Sorsogon.
