Aldin Ayo is out as Tigers coach as University of Sto. Tomas accepted his resignation on Saturday following the team’s controversial training camp in Sorsogon during community quarantine.
"It is with a heavy heart that the University of Santo Tomas accepts the resignation of Mr. Aldin Ayo, Head Coach of the UST Men's Basketball Team, together with the resignations of Mr. Mcjour Luib and Mr. Jinino Manansala as Assistant Coaches," UST said in a statement.
"The Thomasian community conveys its gratitude to them for their service to the University," UST added.
"Rest assured that the university wil remain committed to the welfare of the student athletes and that the process of rebuilding athletic programs, particularly that of the Men's Basketball Team, through compassion and competence, will commence."
The investigating panel made up of officials from the Games and Amusements Board, Philippine Sports Commission, Department of Health, and Commission on Higher Education will submit a written report of its findings to the Department of Justice next week.
Fr. Jannel Abogado also filed his resignation from his post as the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics director two weeks ako.
