UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas has added high school standouts Raymart Sablan from University of the Philippines Integrated School and Alfren Gayosa from San Sebastian College to the Growling Tigers pool for the coming UAAP season.

Sablan and Gayosa have already attended Tigers practices after committing to the team, according to UST head coach Segundo “Bong” Dela Cruz.

The 6-foot-4 Sablan got the nod of the Tigers after averaging double-doubles of 13.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per outing for the Junior Maroons in Season 76.

While it could mean a boost for UST, Sablan’s move dents the UP seniors squad, which is hoping to improve their roster after a 0-14 win-loss record last year.

The 6-foot-2 Gayosa, meanwhile, averaged 9.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing including a 30 percent clip (17-of-56) from three-point range for the Staglets in 2013.

UST is looking to beef up its squad after losing Jeric Teng and Clarke Bautista, who played their final college season last year.
