UNIVERSITY of the Philippines tries anew to score a win without coach Bo Perasol as the Maroons battle the University of the East Warriors on Saturday in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.

As Perasol served the first of a three-game suspension for his outburst in UP’s loss to Ateneo two weeks ago, UP was dealt a second straight defeat by Far Eastern University and the players vow to do better with or without their coach.

"We were really sloppy on our defense," lamented Bright Akhuetie as the Fighting Maroons dropped to a 5-3 card.

"Of course it’s different just because coach Bo is the leader of the team as the head coach. But we don’t really want to focus on that," added Kobe Paras. "We have coach Ricky (Dandan) and we have to still play our game."

UP hopes to get its act together as the Maroons brace for the dangerous UE Red Warriors at 4 p.m.

National University, meanwhile, is hoping to finally register a win streak as it battles skidding Adamson at 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs asserted their mastery of FEU with an 85-79 overtime win last Wednesday, and coach Jamike Jarin is putting all of his trust on his leaders Dave Ildefonso and John Lloyd Clemente to get the job done and improve their 2-7 card.

The Soaring Falcons bowed to the Blue Eagles, suffering their fourth straight loss and are now in joint sixth with UE.

Valandre Chauca and Jerrick Ahanmisi are expected to carry the load for Adamson as it guns to end its woes and improve from the 3-6 card.
