Bo Perasol warns UP against complacency after big win vs La Salle with tough stretch ahead

    Sep 26, 2017

UNIVERSITY of the Philippines coach Bo Perasol doesn't want his wards to be satisfied about beating La Salle on Saturday, and instead wants them to be hungrier to win more games in UAAP Season 80.

The Fighting Maroons came off a rousing 98-87 win over the Green Archers on Saturday to move into a share of second place in the team standings, the team's best start since also going 2-1 in 2015.

But what’s different now is that UP and the entire community is on an emotional high after beating the reigning champions, with last year's MVP Ben Mbala in tow.

Still, Perasol looks to keep his wards, led by Paul Desiderio and Jun Manzo, grounded as they hope to pile more wins following the morale-boosting victory over La Salle.

"Ang importante, makuha namin 'yung gains. This can't be a step backwards," said Perasol.

Perasol cautioned his players not to be satisfied in beating La Salle as the Maroons still have a tough schedule on the horizon in Far Eastern University, Adamson, and National University.

"Sometimes, if you tend to relax and lax, kapag too emotional ka, nawawala 'yung pagiging sharp mo. We can't be too emotional about this game," he said.

"We won this but our win against La Salle is the same as our win against UE. It's just one win," added Perasol, who aims to lead UP to the Final Four for the first time since 1997. "Mataas pa ambisyon namin."
