THE University of the Philippines needed a late spark to wrest back control after letting Adamson erase its early advantage, and Rey Remogat’s clutch triples triggering a decisive turnaround for a hardfought 69-67 victory in UAAP Season 89 on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Fighting Maroons raced out the gates only for the Soaring Falcons to impose their will in the middle frames.
With the game hanging in the balance and less than five minutes left, Remogat came through with a crucial three-pointer that pulled State U level at 60-all.
He then struck again from beyond the arc in the final two minutes, stretching UP’s lead to five points for crucial breathing room against an Adamson side that kept coming.
The game ended in controversy when Mathew Montebon’s desperation halfcourt shot appeared to draw contact from Dikachi Ududo, prompting Soaring Falcons shot-caller Nash Racela to urge a review, insisting that a referee had blown his whistle before the final buzzer.
Game officials, however, left the playing court shortly after the last sequence.

"Nu'ng halftime, kinausap kami ng coaches at sinabi sa'min na kailangan naming mag-regroup at gawin kung ano ang dapat naming gawin. Du'n talaga kami nagising,” Remogat said.
Mat Edding paced Adamson with 15 points in the loss, while Precious Jonah contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.
