THIS EARLY, four schools have already expressed interest in acquiring the services of CJ Cansino.
Spin.ph sources bared that Ateneo, La Salle, University of the Philippines, and Letran have already reached out to the camp of the 6-foot-2 winger following the news of his sudden departure from University of Santo Tomas.
Cansino has yet to speak up about his shock departure from Espana, although insiders bared that it was hard for the 20-year-old guard to leave the school he called home for the better part of the decade.
However, the promising player was left with no choice but leave owing to 'strained relationships,' another source said.
A UP insider confirmed that the school - easily the busiest in the offseason - is again in the hunt for Cansino, although he was quick to warn that it was too early in the recruitment war to be confident.
"Lahat gusto s'ya kunin," said the source.
More schools expected to join in the CJ Cansino sweepstakes, although it remains a hard decision for the player to move on from UST.
A UST lifer, Cansino won the UAAP Season 80 Juniors MVP trophy for the Tiger Cubs and revitalized the Growling Tigers when he shunned a number of offers from rival schools after his high school graduation to remain with the Growling Tigers.
Cansino was solid in his two years in the seniors team, averaging 5.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists last UAAP Season 82 as UST reached the Finals for the first time since 2015.

He was coming back from a torn left ACL incurred in his rookie year, where he posted 12.8 points, 10.3 boards, and 3.6 assists to be the runner-up in the Rookie of the Year race.
As the waiting game starts, Cansino's fellow college ballers, among them Fran Yu of Letran, Aljun Melecio of La Salle, and Shaun Ildefonso of National University, have started a good-natured recruitment war on Twitter.
