AFTER a futile UAAP men’s basketball campaign last season that saw University of the Philippines win just once in 14 games, head coach Ricky Dandan is confident victories will come the Fighting Maroons’ way in Season 76 of the country’s premiere collegiate league.
“We expect to win more games this year and we'll take it from there,” he said.
With the solid backcourt of Henry Asilum and Mikee Reyes getting extra help from a pair of talented rookies, Dandan hopes the ghost of the past will finally be exorcised by his underachieving team.
Xavier School standout Kyles Lao and Andei Paras, son of PBA great Benjie, are the rookies to watch out for the Maroons.
“Our relative youth is our strength and weakness at the same time I feel,” he said. “Because of our inexperience, I feel that the summer leagues have helped us a lot.”
Boosting the Fighting Maroons' line up for the season are JR Gallarza, Chris Ball, and former La Salle Green Archer Joseph Marata, who played his junior year for UPIS.
