THE UAAP will again sell separate tickets for its men’s basketball games on Sunday, even if the playdate does not feature an Ateneo-La Salle match.
A change in game schedule released by the league will have the four-time defending champions Blue Eagles taking on Far Eastern University Tamaraws on that playdate, followed by the Green Archers-National University Bulldogs showdown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The DLSU-NU match is scheduled at 12 noon, while the Ateneo-FEU game is set at 4 p.m. in games where tickets will be sold separately.
Since 2009, the league has adopted the one-game, one-ticket policy on games pitting arch-rivals Ateneo and La Salle.
UAAP secretary-treasurer Junel Baculi, athletic director of host school NU, said they are also expecting a good-sized crowd during Sunday's playdate, the reason the league decided to sell separate tickets for the doubleheader.
“FEU and Ateneo are tied at number one so we want to accommodate more fans to watch at Araneta,” said Baculi, adding the league already planned to sell separate tickets for selected games even before the season.
The Tamaraws and Blue Eagles wrap up the first round of the season in a rematch of last year’s Finals with both teams logging similar 5-1 win-loss cards.
The NU-DLSU match-up, originally scheduled August 11 at the PhilSports Arena, is equally interesting as well as it marks the first meeting between the two since the Bulldogs defeated the Green Archers in the Filoil Cup finals.
The change in schedule also meant the game between winless teams University of the Philippines and University of the East will instead be played on the 11th at the PhilSports Arena, in place of the NU-La Salle clash.
Meanwhile, games will be played on Wednesday in the next two weeks at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, instead of Thursday due to lack of available venues.
