THE UAAP is urging players not to incite the crowd as the league hopes for a fine finish to what has become a very physical basketball finals between Ateneo and La Salle.

League commissioner Rebo Saguisag issued a memo expressing his disapproval of actions such as taunting, baiting and flopping, among others, calling on student-athletes to “make a commitment to behaving properly.”

Saguisag noted that dirty tactics “incite the crowd and poisons the smooth running of the game.”

Ateneo defeated La Salle in the Finals Game One, with players ending up with cuts and bumps, and claims of threats from the spectator stands.

A review also found a bunch of incorrect calls by game officials in the series opener, but the league says it found no evidence of bias.

Saguisag also called on team members to know their limitations and do their part for a good game.

He urges “team managers, utility, physiotherapists, consultants and other team bench personnel not to address the referees, table officials or any other member of the technical team and to let the coaches do their jobs.”

“The full cooperation of everyone involved is needed to conclude the Season in the best way possible,” Saguisag said.
