FOLLOWING Wednesday’s games in Season 77 of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament, the Final Four scenarios have been simplified with two playing dates remaining in the elimination round.
The loss of De La Salle to University of the East, 68-66, has assured at least one playoff game in the Final Four. But even with National University’s 75-64 win over University of Santo Tomas, three teams - the Green Archers, Red Warriors, and Bulldogs - are still not assured of a playoff spot.
Here are the next two playing dates:
2 p.m. – FEU vs. Ateneo, 6 p.m. – DLSU vs. NU
2 p.m. – UST vs. UE, 4 p.m. – UP vs. Adamson
The remaining scenarios are as follows:
- The winner of the FEU-Ateneo game will take the No. 1 spot in the Final Four armed with a twice-to-beat advantage.
- Saturday’s games will determine who will meet in a playoff for the No. 2 spot. The loser of the FEU-Ateneo game will face the winner of the DLSU-NU match in a virtual best-of-three semifinal series.
- The loser of the DLSU-NU game is still not yet assured of a Final Four spot as it still has to wait for the UST-UE game. A UE win will force a playoff for the fourth and final spot in the semifinal round.
