THE UAAP technical committee has upheld the decision of UAAP commissioner Chito Loyzaga to suspend University of the East center Charles Mammie for two games, but downgraded the suspension of Lord Casajeros to one game.

The technical committee chaired by Fr. Ermito de Sagun of University of Santo Tomas handed out the decision after reviewing the incident on Friday following an appeal made by UE to lift Mammie's ban and downgrade Casajeros’ suspension.

The Red Warriors got their wish on the Casajeros aspect of their appeal but not on Mammie's as the technical committee, following its own video review, maintained that he had an intention to hurt Terrence Romeo by encroaching on the FEU guard’s landing spot.

With the decision, Mammie will still miss the next two crucial games of the Red Warriors against National University on Saturday and De La Salle on September 4.

Casajeros, on the other hand, will now be able see action in the La Salle game after the technical committee’s decision.

In explaining its decision to downgrade Casajeros' ban, the technical committee said the UE guard's record is relatively clean with only a warning given during the first round of the eliminations following an altercation with Adamson’s Roider Cabrera.

The technical committee also said the alleged elbowing or punching act by Casajeros on Romeo in the second quarter was not clear on the video and was in fact not called by the referees.

It was also clear on the video, the technical committee said, that Mammie “double-stepped” on the landing spot of Romeo to merit a suspension.
