PLANS for a permanent Commissioner's Office are still on the drawing board, but this early the UAAP wants to put in place a structure that will make sure all basketball-related issues do not reach the board level.

After a controversy-plagued season that saw decisions by Commissioner Ato Badolato overturned by the league's all-powerful board, UAAP president Nilo Ocampo said officials now want all game-related issues to be tackled and settled no higher than the technical committee.

“In the future, gusto namin na wala ng aabot sa board,” Ocampo told Spin.ph. “Hanggang sa technical committee na lang.”

Under the present set-up, decisions by the league commissioner are subject to review by the technical committee and can be appealed before the board, which is composed of representatives from each of the eight member schools.

The board hopes to have the framework in place by December and start screening candidates at the turn of the year.

“’Yung technical committee will suppose to recommend on the framework, and then we will eye candidates for discussion," Ocampo said. “Palagay ko, by January, mapagusapan na namin ‘yung sa commissioner pero sana ‘yung framework ma-discuss na namin by December.”
