UNIVERSITY of the Philippines savored the sweet taste of triumph, as it celebrated its UAAP Season 87 men's basketball championship run in front of a record crowd.
A massive 25,248-strong gate attendance trooped inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday to witness the Fighting Maroons outlast new-age rival La Salle, 66-62, in a thrilling Game Three affair.

It was the biggest gate attendance for the premier collegiate league's basketball events.
This eclipsed the previous high of 25,192 which was set in the Game Three of the Season 86 title clash last year.
Fortunately for the Iskos, the result was different this time out, as they painted Cubao in maroon and green.
