Hope Christian standout Tzaddy Rangel set to join UAAP champs Bulldogs

    Jan 9, 2015

HOPE Christian High School is set to have another product suiting up for an elite collegiate basketball program with big man Tzaddy Rangel joining reigning UAAP champion National University, persons close to the cager told Spin.ph.

Rangel, only 17 and already standing 6-foot-7, is expected to bolster the Bulldogs' frontline in the future, although NU officials have not confirm whether he has committed to the school.

Previously, Rangel also suited up for La Salle Greenhills before moving to Hope Christian High School, which plays in the Tiong Lian, PSSBC, and other Metro Manila high school leagues.

One basketball observer described Rangel as a big man who has a soft touch from the outside, similar to Yancy De Ocampo. A write-up by the Jr. NBA Philippines website also described Rangel as a “lanky center who can score, shoot threes and do mean putbacks.”

Rangel is the just latest Hope Christian player to join a major college program.

Just days earlier, Jollo Go, another Hope Christian product, committed to play for De La Salle in the UAAP while also gaining a spot in the Batang Gilas youth national team.

Two other Hope Christian standouts, John Apacible and Clint Doliguez, played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP last season.
