THE poster dunk by Tyrus Hill on Saturday will not stop Jeepy Faundo from doing his role as a rim protector for University of Santo Tomas.
Faundo was on the receiving end of a highlight dunk that got fans abuzz online when he was posterized by Hill at the beginning of the third period.
The UST cager said he is not affected by the Hill dunk.
"Part naman ng basketball 'yun. Malayo 'yung help. Sa akin naman, hindi ko naman inakala na ida-dunk niya 'yun. Wala namang problema 'yun," said Faundo.
Despite the play, Faundo said it will not prevent him from performing his role to be the best defender possible for UST.
"Kasi big man ako. 'Yun ang matutulong ko sa team, defense. I-aaccept ko 'yung role ko," said Faundo.
The dunk as well as the 88-81 loss to Adamson somewhat overshadowed Faundo's play as he finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Growling Tigers.
Faundo credited his teammates for getting a lot of touches this season, even though he considers himself as a role player.
"Sa akin naman, dahil naman sa teammate ko kaya gumanda laro ko. Binibigyan nila ako ng bola. Ako naman, role player lang ako. Kung binibigyan ako ng bola, good. Kung hindi, ang akin, dumepensa," said Faundo.
The loss dropped UST to 0-2 but their average margin of defeat is at four points per game. Faundo said they will definitely learn from the defeats.
"Sa akin naman, nakakalaro kami ng dikit. So next game, medyo gamay na namin kung anong gagawin," said Faundo.
