WHILE two-time UAAP juniors MVP Jerie Pingoy is bent on moving to Ateneo, three other players from Far Eastern University's high school team have made a commitment to join the Tamaraws’ UAAP pool.
FEU head coach Nash Racela said Jeson Delfinado, Joel Lee Yu and Kendrix Belgica, members of the Baby Tamaraws squad that won the UAAP championship last season, have committed to stay with the school in college.
The three join juniors teammate Joshua Aguilon, who had expressed his desire to play his college ball for the Tamaraws for college ball as early as last year.
Aguilon averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and three assists last year for the Baby Tamaraws, who beat National University in the title series.
Delfinado normed a team-best 8.6 rebounds per game last season and was the fourth leading scorer of the Baby Tamaraws, averaging 7.8 points a contest.
Lee Yu averaged four points and 1.7 rebounds, while Belgica had 2.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per outing.
The Tamaraws, however, have yet to get the commitment of Pingoy, the Cebuano guard who led FEU to its first-ever UAAP juniors crown last season since rejoining the league following the transfer of its high school campus from Morayta to Diliman.
FEU is hoping to bounce back from its failure to reach the Final Four last season, leading to a reshuffle that saw Racela take over as head coach from Bert Flores.
