Three named team captains, nine others make final cut for national team to Seaba U-18 Championship

THREE players have been named team captains as the national federation announced the Philippines’ final 12-man lineup for the 2014 Seaba Under-18 Championship next month in Sabah.

Thirdy Ravena, Joshua Caracut and Aaron Black were picked to lead nine others in the tournament set May 5-7 in Tawau in the Malaysian state.

Second-year college cagers Henri Asilum, Dawn Ochea, and Paul Desiderio, were also chosen by national youth team head coach Jamike Jarin, as well as Ranbill Tongco, Dave Yu, Richard Escoto, Jollo Go, Mark Dyke, and Leonard Santillan.

The Philippines will start off its campaign against Indonesia on May 5 and Malaysia on May 6, before wrapping up the round-robin tournament against Singapore on May 7.

Ravena is one of the notable players in the Under-18 team, having recently won the UAAP juniors MVP in Season 77 for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets.

Asilum, Desiderio, and Ochea have already played in the UAAP collegiate wars. Asilum and Desiderio are with University of the Philippines, while Ochea is with Adamson.

Black is the son of Talk ’N Text head coach Norman Black and will play for Ateneo this season after his stint with the Blue Eaglets.

Tongco, Yu, and Escoto are set to play for San Beda, National University, and Far Eastern University respectively in college.
