THIRDY Ravena was named Most Valuable Player after leading Seaoil Extreme Dark squad to a 123-94 victory over Seaoil Mako Light on Sunday in the NBTC High School All-Star Game at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Ravena came up with 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field including five rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block to propel the Dark team to the victory in the exhibition contest that capped off the Seaoil NBTC National High School Championship.
Extreme was expected to steamroller Mako, with Ravena reutining with Fiba Under-17 3x3 World Championship teammates Arvin Tolentino and Prince Rivero.
And the trio of blue-chip recruits — Ravena and Tolentino set to join the Ateneo college squad and Rivero moving to the La Salle squad — did not disappoint.
Despite being an exhibition game, Ravena said he tried his very best.
“It’s not everyday that you get to play the best players in the country,” said Ravena. “I tried to make it as serious as possible and play 100 percent. I want this game count and get better.”
Diego Dario of University of the Philippines Integrated System led Dark in scoring with 18 points, while Justin Serrano of Malayan High School and Manuel Mosqueda of National University chipped in 14 points each.
Richard Escoto of Far Eastern University and Rev Diputado of San Beda had 12 points each, while Tolentino added eight markers for Dark.
Enzo Battad of NU topscored for Light with 11 markers.
