Blue Eagles begin title bid against Soaring Falcons in UAAP Season 80

    Sep 9, 2017

ATENEO and Adamson collide on Saturday on opening day of UAAP Season 80 basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Eagles-Falcons tiff is scheduled at 4 p.m.

Ateneo looks to reach the top this time after a runner-up finish last year, while Adamson is also looking to do continue its rise after reaching the semifinals in the first season under UAAP champion coach Franz Pumaren.

The Eagles look solid with Thirdy Ravena, Mike Nieto and Isaac Go leading the way, but coach Sandy Arespacochaga is being cautious against the Falcons.

"We know that they are a good team, very good players, and a very good coach. We know that it's going to be a tough game," Arespacochaga said.

Pumaren says it is a tough first-day assignment because it has been a while since the Falcons played against the Eagles.

"We are in the dark right now because the last time we saw them was seven months ago. For sure, they are prepared and from what I'm hearing, they really maintained their form during their tune-up games. It's going to be tough," said Pumaren.

Papi Sarr, Jerrick Ahanmisi and Sean Manganti made their mark in the preseason for the Falcons and are expected to even do better this time.
