LA Salle coach Aldin Ayo admitted the team took advantage of a momentary lull in play during the fourth quarter to regroup and complete a comeback on Sunday against National University.
A technical delay occurred early in the fourth quarter after La Salle forward Ricci Rivero tried to save the ball from going out of bounds off his own deflection near the technical officials' table.
A frustrated Rivero hit the ball which landed in some equipment, causing the television monitor of the commissioner’s table and ABS-CBN Sports to malfunction.
Rivero was slapped with a warning for delay of the game and a lull of about 10 minutes ensued with NU up, 57-54.
Ayo said La Salle used the timely break to regroup.
“Nakatulong kasi ‘yun ‘yung oras na tumatakbo ng tumatakbo ‘yung utak ko kung ano ang gagawin,” said Ayo. “Marami pa sana akong gagawin pero hindi na-execute ng mga bata.”
The complexion of the game changed quickly after the break as La Salle went on a 6-0 run to seize a 60-57 lead. The lead soon swelled to 12 points before the Green Archers wrapped up a 75-66 victory.
“Maybe it helped us,” said Ayo.
