FORMER Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin has been fined P4910,000 million by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for violations in relation to his lack of a work permit during his time with the Blue Eagles.
The penalty was handed down on Tuesday after the American-Kiwi mentor's violations were unearthed in the courtse of the investigation into the tragic Blue Eagles training camp in Dipaculao, Aurora that cost the lives of Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

Baldwin was fined P4.9 million for failure to secure an alien employment permit and another P4.9M for his failure to secure a certificate of exemption.
Moreover, Ateneo was been penalized P4.9M for hiring Baldwin without the necessary permits.
In a clarificatory meeting last July, the university argued that Baldwin was a consultant for the Blue Eagles and not an employee.
Baldwin has been listed as the Blue Eagles head coach since 2016 following his exploits as the coach of Gilas Pilipinas where he led the Philippines to the silver medal in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship.
During his tenure, he led the Katipunan crew to four UAAP titles and two runner-up finishes.
He resigned in the aftermath of the Aurora tragedy and has since been handed a perpetual ban by the UAAP.
The DOLE will also refer the case to the Bureau of Immigration for summary deportation proceedings, although counsels for both Baldwin and Ateneo indicated that they will explore all legal remedies to appeal the sanction.
