RENZO Subido and Marvin Lee bounced back from a terrible shooting night and gave University of Santo Tomas a big win in the process.
The veteran guards of the Growling Tigers led the way as they came up with a huge 76-74 win over the FEU Tamaraws on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The two combined to shoot a dismal 8-of-43 clip from the field in their opening-day loss to National University. And though their numbers aren't screaming of efficiency - it was still a tad better.
"Yung last game na yun, we were able to get or shots, di lang pumapasok. Di naman kami nadown," said Subido who finished with 18 points, three more than his total against the Bulldogs while taking seven less shots.
"Alam namin na magiging maayos pa ang laro namin. we just have to trust each other at tiwala sa sistema," he added.
Lee, on the other hand limited his shots to nine - making four - after hitting just 3-19 from the field against the Bulldogs.
Like Subido, Lee quickly shrugged off the bad game.
"Alam namin na bad game kami, di lang kami tumatama. Di naman matatapos dun. Trabaho lang ulit."
For Aldin Ayo, he doesn't have a problem with his players taking many shots - in fact he's encouraging his players to keep taking them as long as the shots are within the flow.
"It's not only for Renzo. Good thing all the players, I always tell them that if you're free, take the shot as long as it's in the play," Ayo said. "Just be responsible and make sure we execute our plays."
