TWO-TIME NBA MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors led the Oath of Sportsmanship in the UAAP Season 81 opening ceremonies on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.
The sweet-shooting three-time NBA champion graced the curtain-raiser for the new season, hosted by National University.
It was a short appearance from Curry, but was still able to get a brief Instagram story with the fans in attendance.
UAAP president Jose Nilo Ocampo of NU declared the games open together with fellow Board of Trustees member Dr. RJ Ermita.
"In Season 80, we celebrated greatness. But striving for greatness never really ends. It all begins here as we enter a new decade in the UAAP," said Ermita.
"There's a new vibrance among our student-athletes. This excellence will be felt by the thousands of new students and new fans. Welcome to your new UAAP experience. Beyond the competition, we celebrate the value of sports. Ladies and gentlemen, sports is life. Welcome to the UAAP. It all begins here."
NU trotted out a festive opening program which saw NU Chorale sing "A Million Dreams" as well as musical performances from Sponge Cola, James Reid, and Korean pop star Minzy.
