JAI Reyes is reportedly likely to be the next commissioner of the upcoming UAAP Season 88 basketball tournaments.
SPIN.ph sources bared the UAAP hierarchy is inclined to appoint Reyes to succeed Xavy Nunag who held the post for two years.
Reyes, a former Ateneo point guard, is no stranger to supervising tournaments as he founded Filbasket (now-Asiabasket) back in 2021.

The 38-year-old spent five seasons in the PBA between Powerade, Talk 'N Text, and Meralco, before playing internationally in Thailand and Vietnam. He last played for KL Aseel of Malaysia before moving on to a sports executive role.
Beaujing Acot is rumored to be his deputy for this season which will be hosted by University of Santo Tomas.
The duo will have big shoes to fill following the commissionership of Nunag. They will handle all UAAP basketball events which include men's, women's, boys', girls' junior high school, and 3x3 basketball tournaments. - RL
How Alas Women lineup for SEA V.League is shaping up
The 2025 SEA V.League is just around the corner, but there seems to be no hurry for Alas Pilipinas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito to announce the lineup.
“Not yet [done],” de Brito said, when asked if he already has the name of the 14-person squad. The tournament begins on August 1.
In two competitions played this year, de Brito fielded two different versions of the national team, with each squad bannered by a few core players.

The AVC Nations Cup roster featured a vast array of college stars in Angel Canino, Alyssa Solomon, Shaina Nitura and PVL-bound Bella Belen.
Few weeks later, de Brito took a more experienced route in the invitational VTV Cup by parading two-time PVL MVP Brooke Van Sickle, MJ Phillips and Maddie Madayag.
With FIVB world ranking points in the offing, there’s only about a week for de Brito to put up the best mix of youth and experience against the fearsome Southeast Asian trio of Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. - John Mark Garcia
