FORMER Thailand and Qatar national coach Tim Lewis is set to take over the coaching job for La Salle in the next UAAP basketball season.
Multiple sources confirmed that the 51-year-old British bench tactician has been hired as the head coach for the Green Archers, just weeks after the team failed to reach the Final Four in its first season under Louie Gonzales.
Gonzalez, who amassed an 8-6 (win-loss) record this past season, will remain with the team as an assistant, the sources added.
Lewis, who served as assistant coach of the Great Britain team in the 2012 London Olympics and worked with NBA teams Phoenix, Toronto, and Houston in various capacities, also served briefly as consultant of Gilas Pilipinas and TNT.
He returned to the country just last September to coach Qatar in the fourth window of the Fiba World Cup qualifier, where they lost to Team Pilipinas in a game played behind closed doors.
